Season 1 Episode 1 Gerstetten
From 24 April to 2 May 2011 in Germany, sixty young French, German and Hungarian people aged 13 to 30 from the music schools of Cébazat (F), Gerstetten (D) and Pilisvörösvar (H) will meet for 7 days at the Kapfenburg music academy (Badenwütenberg).
Their project is to prepare a wind band concert programme to be given on 30 April, with 5 days of rehearsals, 2 days of visits to Germany as well as cultural, linguistic and culinary exchanges!
Follow the daily life of these young European musicians with their daily comments, videos and photos on this website from 25 April! You can also watch the closing concert on the same evening!
After a trip that went superbly well (multi-games, films, songs and jokes). The musicians arrived at the magnificent Kapfenburg castle; between the installation of the rooms, the meal and the well deserved shower, the first contacts with the Hungarians (who arrived at the end of the day) were made in a joyful and good mood.
First day at the castle, and already a lot of music, under the Kapfenburg sun. This morning we played our first notes together and got to know our teachers. Everyone enjoyed playing together, then we discovered some specialities of German cuisine, and to finish the day, we will share an evening where we will all be together to have a good time and get to know each other better!
In order to rehearse in greater depth, the Trina Orchestra is organized by instrument families. Brass, woodwinds and percussion are beginning to refine the programme’s musical setting and colour. At the same time, individual photos of the trainees were taken in order to create the orchestra’s trombinoscope.
After a few days spent in the castle, communication between the different musicians has become easier. The bonds have been strengthened, the cultural exchange can finally begin, and this is thanks to the evening entertainment, which is unanimously appreciated. The musical programme is taking shape, we will soon be ready for the concert. The days are long but the enthusiasm of the trainees outweighs the fatigue. A Jam is planned this evening after a French buffet.
Most of Thursday was devoted to tutti rehearsals. Despite a substantial musical programme, everything should be settled like clockwork by the time of the concert on Saturday evening. During the themed lunch, the whole orchestra enjoyed a blanquette de veau cooked like at grandma’s! This beautiful day ended with another musical evening.
Today is a rest day for the musicians. In the morning, a visit to the Mercedes-Benz Museum, followed by a tour of Stuttgart city centre after a good meal. At the end of the day, meeting with the host families in Gerstetten.
